The seasonal school “Preparation of Certification Program for Social Work at Batumi State University”, jointly organized by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and Institute of Social Studies and Analysis, has been opened. BSU professors and social workers of western Georgia will be introduced to the topical issues of social work for five days, such as the basics of social work, social advocacy, and human behavior in the social environment, social welfare policy, and social work research methods. Georgian and foreign speakers will also give lectures on Social Work with Communities and Organizations, Social Work and Domestic Violence, Social Work and Child Protection, Social Work and Criminal Justice.
In 2011, within the framework of the European Commission Program Tempus TACIS, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University institutionalized social work education as a certification program. Within the framework of the project, 8 BSU professors were extensively trained to be able to lead the certification courses. The BSU academic staff participating in the European Commission program are involved in seasonal school work.
The Seasonal School is funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sport of Ajara AR.
