The meeting to support Ukraine, organized by the Jean Monnet Department, was held at the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The event was attended by the students of the Jean Monnet Department, Levan Jakeli, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, and Malkhaz Nakashidze, Head of the Jean Monnet Department. The participants of the meeting expressed their strong support for the Ukrainian people, students, academic staff and protested against the aggression and occupation of Ukraine by the Russian Federation.
During the meeting, discussions were held around the Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova’s applications for the EU membership and further procedures; they also stressed the importance of the fight of the Ukrainian people for the common values of all three countries, the European choice.
The participants expressed their readiness to take an active part in humanitarian actions in support of the Ukrainian people, to carry out activities in support of Ukrainian students, including to host them at the BSU, to promote the dissemination of objective information free from Russian propaganda.
The event took place in the frame of the Jean Monnet Department program; it was funded by the European Union and aimed at promoting EU values by supporting research and teaching about the EU.
