A consortium meeting of the institutional development “Erasmus+” project LoveDistance held in Tel Aviv

On March 3-17, a consortium meeting of the institutional development “Erasmus+” project "Optimization of teaching and academic inclusion using distance Learning and Teaching" (LoveDistance), was held in Tel Aviv, Israel. The meeting was hosted by all three partner organizations of the project – Levinsky College of Education, Ono Academic College and Tel Aviv University. The purpose of the meeting was to summarize the activities implemented in the frame of the project as well as discuss the current processes in terms of both content and management. From the BSU, the meeting was attended by the staff involved in the project-Nana Makaradze, Irakli Kordzaia, Amiran Sharadze and Nino Mikeladze.

In the frame of the meeting, the piloted courses implemented in the first semester of the 2021-2022 academic year in the frame of the project and the related challenges, were discussed in details. The participants discussed forms and models of distance course quality assessment. In the future, it is planned to develop a single tool, which will be available for all partners.

Within the visit, with the engagement of the partner universities, a hybrid conference on online teaching was held. The last day of the visit was devoted to discussion of the project management issues and agreement on future plans.

Two study courses were piloted in BSU in the first semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. The piloting process will continue in 2022-2023 too. In addition, it was planned to conduct trainings by the project implementation personnel of the BSU for the university staff as well as the school teachers and the other project target groups.

The goal of the project “LoveDistance” is to strengthen the procedures and mechanisms necessary for distance learning to enhance the participation of the students in the higher education institution programs.

Specific goals of the project are: sharing European experience in relation to the practice of distance learning; promotion of infrastructural preparation of the partner university, which is required for distance teaching; increase awareness on distance learning and its importance in the target groups of the project (students from ethnic and religious minorities, as well as in the region residents and the students with full-time or part-time jobs).
