American media experts, Arizona State University professors - Bill Silcock, Ken Foskett and US Embassy grant and higher education program coordinator Sofia Bzishvili met with the Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Professor Merab Khalvashi. At the meeting, the guests and BSU Rector Merab Khalvashi spoke about the cultural-educational relations between Georgia and the USA and directions of future cooperation. The parties also summarized the grant projects implemented in BSU with the support of the United States of America and the US Embassy in Georgia.

The university is involved in the media education program of the US Embassy, MEDIA EDUCTION PROGRAM (MEP), which aims to strengthen journalism education in Georgia. Within the framework of the program, the Master's program "Digital Media and Innovations" is being successfully implemented at BSU, which was created with the support of the US Embassy and the involvement of professors from three different US universities and taking into account the recommendations. Also, it became possible to prepare a bachelor's program in journalism, which is currently awaiting accreditation.
