
At Shota Rustaveli State University in Batumi, American media experts, professors of Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism - Bill Silcock and Ken Foskett gave public lectures on the challenges of traditional and digital media. During two days, American media experts introduced BSU students, professors and working journalists to such topical issues as: "Free press model for covering fair elections", "Disinformation", "Social media in teaching journalism" and "Investigative journalism". The workshop was organized as part of the event, American professors shared many years of experience with the audience and answered their topical questions.
The event was opened by BSU Deputy Rector Tamar Siradze, Head of the Master's Program "Digital Media and Innovations" Inga Shamilishvili, Coordinator of Grant and Higher Education Programs of the US Embassy Sofio Bzishvili, they emphasized the fruitful and successful cooperation between the university and the US Embassy and They talked about the importance of joint projects in the direction of internationalization
Bill Silcock, professor of journalism and mass communication at Arizona State University, Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict, has published more than 25 scholarly articles and is the co-author of the acclaimed textbook on digital media, "News: Telling Visual Stories in the Digital Age," and teaches courses on leadership, digital journalism and journalistic ethics topics.
Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, award-winning investigative reporter and editor, Professor Ken Foskett has worked as an investigative reporter and senior investigative editor for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution for 32 years. He is a former chairman of the board of directors of the Atlanta Press Club, a graduate of Yale College and the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.
Arizona State University professors Dr. Bill Silcock and Ken Foskett visited BSU as part of the US Embassy's MEDIA EDUCTION PROGRAM (MEP), which Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University has been implementing since 2020 with the support of the US Embassy in Georgia. Within the framework of cooperation, BSU hosted American media experts for the third time.
