On Earth Day, under the slogan “Our Power, Our Planet,” Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, within the framework of the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Project (BSB00559 CARE SEA) and with the support of partner organizations, held a large-scale cleanup campaign at the Chorokhi River delta.
The cleanup aimed to remove plastic and other types of waste from the Chorokhi River delta. Waste was sorted on site: the plastic fraction was separated and sent to a recycling facility, while the remaining waste was transported by Batumi’s cleaning service to the appropriate landfill.
Participants in the cleanup included the Rector of Batumi State University, students and staff, employees of Coca-Cola Bottlers Georgia, students and teachers of Batumi Public School No. 15, as well as representatives of Batumi City Hall and the municipal cleaning service.
The event was organized by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Project (BSB00559 CARE SEA), Coca-Cola Bottlers Georgia, and the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth.
