On May 29-30, 2026, an international conference „EU Integration Perspectives of the Candidate Countries“ was held in a hybrid format at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University within the framework of the Jean Monnet Chair “Closer to the European Union” project.
The Jean Monnet Chair focuses on teaching EU competition law and EU consumer law. Accordingly, the main issues of the conference are the approximation of the competition legislation and consumer protection norms of the candidate countries to the EU legislation.
In addition to the above-mentioned norms, the issues of approximation of other fields of law to the European norms were also discussed within the framework of the conference.
More than forty professors, scientists, doctoral, master's and undergraduate students from Georgia, Poland, Ukraine, Albania, Serbia and Bulgaria participated in the conference.
