
Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University hosted San Diego State University Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Bill Tong, Global Campus Dean Ian Gibson, US Embassy Representative and San Diego State University-Georgia Advisory Board Member Harvey Sernowitz, US Embassy Grant and Higher Education Programs Coordinator Sopho Bzishvili, and San Diego State University-Georgia Manager for Institutional Representation Julie Kapanadze for the English-language Civil Engineering program under the ABET program.
The delegation members were met by BSU Rector Tite Aroshidze, Deputy Rectors Giorgi Katamadze and Tamar Siradze, Dean of the Faculty of Technology Gaioz Partskhaladze, Head of the International Relations Service Tamar Dundua, as well as representatives of administrative and academic structures. At the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to deepening cooperation between the institutions and the development of the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (ABET) program.
Dean of the Faculty of Technology Gaioz Partskhaladze presented updated information on the progress and development of the Civil Engineering program. He also introduced the guests to scientific research on heuristic optimization of artificial intelligence.
Within the framework of the visit, the delegation inspected the infrastructure of the Faculty of Technology, including laboratories, FabLab and the Innovation Center. Guests were introduced to student projects, architectural models, testing and learning spaces, innovative and practical activities. The winning student business project was also presented to the guests.
