Earth Day was celebrated with a large-scale event within the framework of the CARE SEA project

On the occasion of Earth Day, under the slogan “Our Power, Our Planet,” Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, within the framework of the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme project (BSB00559 CARE SEA), and with the support of partner organizations, conducted a large-scale clean-up campaign at the Chorokhi River Delta.

The primary objective of the campaign was to remove plastic and other types of waste from the Chorokhi River Delta. Collected waste was sorted on-site: the plastic fraction was separated and delivered to a recycling facility, while the remaining waste was transported by the Batumi Cleaning Service to a designated landfill.

The clean-up campaign brought together the Rector, students, and administrative staff of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, employees of Coca-Cola Bottlers Georgia, students and teachers of Batumi Public School No. 15, as well as representatives of Batumi City Hall and the municipal cleaning service.

The event was organized by Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme project (BSB00559 CARE SEA), Coca-Cola Bottlers Georgia, and the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth.
