The 5th regular meeting of the Steering Committee in Tulcea

Between 16-17 April, 2026 Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development Tulcea, Romania hosted the event ”Educational Seminar, Workshop and 5th SCM” under #CARESEA Project ”Cooperation and Awareness for Pollution-free and Environmentally Sustainable Black Sea”, code BSB00559, financed by European Union through the Interreg VI-B, NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme.

The event brought together representatives of local and regional authorities, research institutions, educational organisation, NGOs, private sector and civil society. The presentations validated the importance of integrating technical and scientific progress into sustainable biodiversity conservation strategies, informed and responsible communities in the protection of the Black Sea environment.

During the 5th SCM, partners from Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Turkey, Greece and Romania disscussed the progress of the project and future plans.

The partners PP5 (DDNI - Romania) and PP2 (USPEEE - Republic of Moldova), cooperating in their cross border area, presented during educational seminar the results regarding the pollution issues as general environment problem in the Lower Danube, but with the main focus on microplastic pollution occured in their target area.

The program included a study visit in the Danube Delta, a world natural heritage reserve, one of the target area of CARE SEA project.
