Batumi Shota Rustaveli University hosted 5 MA students from Armenia Vanadzor University. The guest graduate school students arrived for study visit in order to have a closer look at the Masters program ‘Management of Higher Education’. The students audited lectures, observed the specifics of the educational process and also found time to take sneak peeks of the city sites of Batumi. They will return to Armenia followed by their exchange Georgian peers from Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. This project also envisages exchange of two successful MA students from BSU to Koblenz, Germany, to take part in the summer school. Prof. Merab Khalvashi, acting Rector of BSU, professors and educators held a welcome meeting, emphasizing the significance of the exchange projects and wished the students further success in their efforts.

Elections for the Acting Rector has revealed the successful candidate shortly after the polls closed, - Associate Professor Merab Khalvashi has been elected as the Acting Rector by the majority of votes, 299 out of the eligible 312 casted by the BSU professors and scholars.
Other candidates who also stood for the post Associate Professor Merab Khalvashi - 107 votes, Associate Professor Irakli Baramidze - 80 votes, Ramaz Khalvashi - 60 votes, Vladimir Baladze - 36 votes, Malkhaz Nakashidze - 9 votes, and 7 vote were declared invalid according to the polling protocol.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University hosted presentation of the international project: ‘San Diego University and Georgia 2020’. Tamar Sanikidze, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Magda Magradze, CEO of Millennium Challenge Account, Giorgi Tavamaishvili, Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of Ajara, and Kenneth D. Walsh SDSU, J.R. Filanc Construction Engineering and Management Program Director and Dean of San Diego University’s technological school in Georgia held an presentation of the 30 million project “San Diego State University and Georgia 2020”. The project is being jointly carried out by MCCA (US Millennium Challenge Corporation Account and MCA (Georgia) since 2014.
The project aims to offer American undergraduate programs to Georgian students starting in 2015-2016 academic year. San Diego State University will announce admissions for BA programs in chemistry, biology, electrical engineering, computer engineering and computer science industrial and civil construction areas from the next academic year.

'World War I and Southwest Georgia' –professors of Niko Berdzenishvili Institute at the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University devoted the scientific conference to the 100th anniversary of World War I; The scholars of the Department of History, Archeology and ethnology discussed century-old historical events happening in Adjara. The Conference presentations focused on the important topics: ‘The socio-economic situation in the south-western Georgia before World War I,’ ‘Adjara during the years of World War I’, ‘The economic difficulties and socio-political situation in Batumi region during World War I," ‘Georgian independent committee and establishment of the Georgian Legion’, ‘Adjarians "high treason" charges and repressions’, ‘South-western Georgia and Adjara after World War I’.

Heinrich Böll Foundation South Caucasus Regional Bureau launched the project ‘Who's Afraid of feminism’, hosted by the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University; The Foundation sponsored series of lectures by the philosopher Lela Gaphrindashvili, women’s human rights’ defender. The philosopher gave a public lecture on ‘Feminism and women's rights movement from the strand to the center’. The speaker reviewed the history of women's empowerment and the major actors. The audience learnt about the history of Western feminist ideas and its relation to the Georgian reality. The speaker emphasized on the idea of equality and talked about the Georgian feminists who pioneered in the movement for women’s’ rights, hence paving the way for the next generations of women. The BSU will host the series of public lectures every Friday 17:00 through 13 December.
