Deputy Secretary General of NATO Rose Gottemoeller met the students from western Georgia higher education institutions at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. At the meeting, the Deputy Secretary General spoke about the NATO-Georgia relationship, the world security challenges and the mechanisms for dealing with it together with the students and answered some questions from students. At the end of the meeting, Rector of BSU Merab Khalvashi expressed gratitude towards Rose Gottemoeller for the visit and handed a book "Treasure of Adjara" and a map of Georgia with the logo of NATO made by BSU Fablab.
The event was moderated by the former Deputy Minister of Defense of Georgia, Mikheil Darchiashvili.
Rose Gottemoeller is visiting Georgia in the framework of the North Atlantic Council Meeting. The event was organized by the Information Center on NATO and the EU of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and is the launch event of the Center`s annual project - NATO Days 2019.
NATO Days in Georgia will be held from October 3 to October 31 and aims at informing Georgian citizens about the mechanisms and perspectives of cooperation between Georgia and NATO.
In the framework of NATO days, about 70 educational and cognitive events will be conducted in Tbilisi as well as in 10 regions of Georgia.

Within the framework of the 8th International Summer School of Digital Humanities "Digital Kartvelology and Caucasus Studies," an international workshop was held at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University on issues of documentary and corpus linguistics. European expert Jost Gippert, director of the Empirical Linguistics Department, Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, German, and Diana Forker, professor at the University of Jena and Head of the Department of Caucasus Studies, delivered lectures on the following topics: “Text Corpus, as a Basis for Historical Research" and "Digital Dictionaries of Caucasian Languages”.
At the workshop, students were introduced to topical issues such as: Defining Digital Kartvelology and Caucasiology as a New Direction and Developing a Theoretical Framework, Modern Research Methods and Introducing to Necessary Tools for Creating Multidisciplinary Resources in Digital Kartvelology and Caucasiology (Multimedia format files: EAF and FLEX files, XML format). European experts also introduced the achievements and development prospects of Digital Kartvelology, Georgian and international electronic resources of the given profile (ARMAZI, ECLinG, CauPal, SSGG, GeoPal, GDC, GNC, DigiArchive, Spoken BNC2014, ELDP-SOAS) to the young people.

The 8th International Summer School on Digital Humanities has been opened at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University on the topic: "Digital Kartvelology and Caucasiology". In the course of one-week school, Georgian and foreign professors have been delivering lectures on digital Kartvelology and Caucasiology as a new direction and theoretical framework, as well as on modern research methods and tools necessary for creating multidisciplinary resources.
Within the framework of the summer school, an international workshop on Documentary and Corpus linguistics has been held. The training is led by European expert Jost Gippert, director of the Empirical Linguistics Department, Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, German, and Diana Forker, professor at the University of Jena and Head of the Department of Caucasus Studies

Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University jointly organized a scientific picnic in Batumi. The scientific picnic was opened by Merab Khalvashi - Rector of BSU, Maia Khajishvili - Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of Adjara AR, Nino Tsereteli - Head of Department of the Development of Higher Education and Science of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia. The scientific picnic aimed to promote scientific research and innovation, to share the achievements of researchers with the general public.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University is hosting an international seminar on: “Enhancing QA Impact”. The seminar is organized within the frames of Erasmus+ Program involving more than 30 experts from Georgia, UK, Armenia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. During two days the experts will be introduced to the issues of efficiency and sustainability of QA systems in their countries.
