The international Conference "East Europe as a Multi-Cultural Space" is held as a part of the research in the Humanities, and will focus on the post-soviet politics and its impact on the culture in Georgia. The conference will take place in Batumi, Georgia.

Keynote speakers: Tinatin Margalitadze. Edith Clowes, Lincoln Mitchell

Proposals for panels are very welcome. They will be high light at the conference.

The conference will feature panels in the following areas: Politics and Goverance in East Europe - which will concentrate on the political reflections on the culture - literatures, language, translation, art, films, social culture etc.

“East European Multicultural Space" will be the first international conference held at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University devoted to the post-soviet politics and its impact on the culture in Georgia. The goal of the Conference is to promote interdisciplinary research in new directions of language and culture, scientific enrichment and sharing experience and creative dialogue between Georgian and international researchers on significant issues of history, literature, translation and interdisciplinary research. 

Translation Studies  will be a one of the special focus of the conference, as it has been part of the cultural and literary studies, apart from the linguistic approaches, not much has been contributed to the specifically to the texts of the minority languages of their translation into the dominant language of the Soviet Empire. Could we hear authentic voices in the translations? Can we now?
