On the occasion of Earth Day, under the slogan “Our Power, Our Planet,” Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, within the framework of the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme project (BSB00559 CARE SEA), and with the support of partner organizations, conducted a large-scale clean-up campaign at the Chorokhi River Delta.

Between 16-17 April, 2026 Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development Tulcea, Romania hosted the event ”Educational Seminar, Workshop and 5th SCM” under #CARESEA Project ”Cooperation and Awareness for Pollution-free and Environmentally Sustainable Black Sea”, code BSB00559, financed by European Union through the Interreg VI-B, NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme.

On February 16-17, 2026, within the framework of the CARE SEA project, the fourth meeting of the steering committee was held in Chisinau. The two-day event included a meeting of the Steering Committee, 2 educational seminars, 2 premiere screenings of films and working visits to the „Orheiul Vechi” and „Codrii Moldovei” nature reserves on combating plastic pollution in rivers and tributaries.

Within the framework of the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme, Project BSB00559 CARE SEA – “Cooperation and Awareness Raising for a Pollution-Free and Environmentally Sustainable Black Sea” – a high-level stakeholder meeting with decision-makers was convened at the conference hall of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.

On October 28-31, the third Steering Committee meeting of the CARE SEA project was held at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The three-day event included a Steering Committee meeting, an educational seminar, a training and a study visit to the Axios River Delta and the Thermaikos Gulf on combating plastic pollution in rivers and seas.
