The International Conference Christianity and Economics was dedicated to the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University 80th anniversary. The conference was jointly organized by Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilis State University Faculty of Economic and Business and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Faculty of Economic and Business. The international conference was represented by 80 scholars from five countries, including Georgian, German, Ukrainian, Lithuanian and Belarus professors. The conference discussed importance of the religious factors on the economy, theoretical – methodological aspects, and social-economic reforms.

Trabzon University of Eurasia hosted a special meeting of the Rectors of the Black Sea regions universities. The participant university Rectors discussed extensive multilateral collaboration opportunities and prospective cooperation. The parties planned joint international projects, exchange of students and professors, seminars, conferences and cultural events.
The meeting participants involved Merab Khalvashi, Associate Professor, Acting Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Professor Marina Giorgadze, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Professor Irakli Sharabidze, Rector of the Batumi Maritime Academy, Professor Ermile Meskhia, Rector of the Batumi Art Training University, Yasin Temizkan, Consul General of Turkey in Batumi, Professor Aşkın Asan, Rector of the Trabzon University of Eurasia, Professor Hikmet Oksuz, Vice Rector of the Trabzon Karadeniz Technical University, Professor Mehmet Duman. Rector of the Artvin Çoruh University, Professor Orhan Karsli, Vice Rector of the Recep Tayyip Erdogan University.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University hosted international summer school as part of the project, Institution-Centered Conflict Studies (ICCS) on 17-27 August. The summer school had international participants, experts, as well as professors, scholars, educators and students of BSU. The summer school focused on the study of institutional approaches to the conflict resolution, ways of their research and application in practice.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and Graz University, Austria, jointly organized III international summer school through the cooperation framework European Law in the South Caucasus (EULISC).
The summer school was opened by Merab Khalvashi, Associate Professor, Acting Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Professor Adam Makharadze, Dean of the Faculty of Law at BSU, Giorgi Ermakov, Batumi Mayor, Zaza Vashakmadze, Chairman of the Religious Issues State Agency, Giorgi Barabadze, Chairman of the Georgian Agency of Competitiveness. The project participants came from various international high schools, including Georgian, German, Austrian, Chez, Serbian, Armenian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Azerbaijani, Russian, Kazakh, Polish students. The future lawyers are being trained by the international experts. The summer school intends to rise interest and motivation of the students to study legal and political issues of the EU and the South Caucasus.

A famous scientist-Orientalist, Feride Atsamba who is the BSU alumna and currently a professor at Lomonosov Moscow State University, has been awarded honorary doctorate of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University by the Academic Council. Acting Rector, Associate Professor Merab Khalvashi awarded Professor Atsamba the Shota Rustaveli Medal.
Professor Feride Atsamba is a significant contributor to the development of the BSU. She has kept scientific and educational ties with the BSU, providing scientific, methodological and professional assistance. Professor Atsamba has published 2 monographs and over 60 scientific papers on the problems and the social structure of Arabic countries and on the issues of operation of Islamic religious institutions.
