Scholars from Georgian, German and Armenian universities have opened a three –day Tempus programme seminar at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University: ‘Modernization of Mathematics curricula for Engineering and Natural Sciences studies in South Caucasian Universities by introducing modern educational technologies (MathGea)’.
The mathematicians will discuss modernization issues of math courses in the engineering and natural sciences curricula.
It considers structural upgrade of the curricula with the introduction of courses in comparative analysis, and statistics etc. for the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) disciplines. This will be accomplished in accordance to the Bologna principles, through the shared European experience and practices of proven technology with educational innovations in the partner universities.

Young performers of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University theatrical troupe took part in the French-Georgian cultural days event in Paris. ‘Naphthalene’ - a comedy by Lasha Bugadze, Georgian playwright, was performed for the French audience. The play was directed by Roin Dvali and George Pirtskhalaiashvili. Congratulations to BSU students and directors, who received positive acclaim, as French press reviews point out.

Honorary Doctor Dominique Tezgor-Kassab, Professor of Bilkent University, delivered public lecture ‘The History of Museums over the Centuries’ to the professors and graduate students of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.

Professor Tezgor introduced the concept of museum and museum studies, and spoke about the earliest museums, establishment of the first museum in Mesopotamia, the earliest social musum in Vatican and the Capitolium of the renaissance period, curio cabinets of the XVI-XVII cc and encyclopedia museums of the Enlightenment times. The famous scientist also touched upon the characteristic to the postmodern museums - entrepreneurship and marketing ideas. The public lecture was sponsored by the Adjara A.R. Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport sub-program ‘Support to Higher Education’.

Associate Professor Merab Khalvashi, Acting Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and Professor Aşkın Asan, Rector of the Eurasian University (Avrasya Üniversitesi) signed cooperation memorandum through the organized International tourist exhibition, Expo Batumi – 2015.

The goal of the agreement is collaboration of higher education institutions in implementing joint educational and scientific projects. The parties agreed on carrying out student and faculty exchange programs, holding training sessions, conferences and symposia.
