Nancy Parks, USAID Basic Education Program Director, Medea Kakachia, USAID Education Specialist, and Ana Abuladze, USAID Basic Education Program Coordinator paid a visit to Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The purpose of the meeting was to ensure the effective implementation of the USAID Basic Education Program at BSU. The guests met with the Deputy Rector of the University Tamar Siradze, representatives of the administration, and the program.

According to the decision of the European Commission, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University is the winner of the Jean Monnet program with the project "European Union`s core values: democracy, rule of law and protection of human rights", presented by Malkhaz Nakashidze. Professor Malkhaz Nakashidze became a professor at Jean Monnet Chairs and was awarded the status of Head of the Jean Monnet Chair for a term of 3 years.

Seven new projects have been funded under the Erasmus + Capacity Building of Higher Education (CBHE) projects with the participation of Georgian partners, five of which will be implemented in partnership with BSU.

According to Webometrics research, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University is in the top five in the ranking of Georgian higher education institutions.
The organization studies the scientific success of universities and the impact of their online resources. Scientific criteria include citing academic publications of the University in the international scientific database. Webometrics surveys world university rankings twice a year and takes account of up to 31,000 higher education institutions from more than 200 countries, including Georgia.
