
Students and professors from the Ecology and Biology programs of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Healthcare celebrated International Day for Biological Diversity. Associate Professor Inga Diasamidze presented a report on "Biodiversity Conventions and Conservation Strategies," while Associate Professor Natela Varshanidze spoke about "The Current Status of Red List Species in Ajara." The event was also attended by staff members from Machakhela National Park.
Marad Iakobadze, Senior Specialist of Resources at Machakhela National Park, introduced students to "Biodiversity of Machakhela National Park," demonstrated the tools necessary for biodiversity monitoring (camera traps, GPS navigator, binoculars), and practically explained how observation/monitoring is conducted. Visitor Services Specialist Dina Makharadze presented the ecotourism opportunities and routes of Machakhela National Park to the young people.
The meeting was conducted in a question-and-answer format and served to raise awareness about biodiversity.
