On July 30, 2025, the Summer School “Political Criteria for EU Membership and Europeanization” closed at the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The school and participants awarded with the Jean Monnet international certificates. The Summer School is organized every year and funded by the “Erasmus+” program, within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module “Political Criteria for EU Membership and Europeanization of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine”, which has been implemented at the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences since 2023. The Jean Monnet Module aims to promote excellence in teaching and research in the field of European Union studies. This year, the Summer School was held in collaboration with the “Sibillini Europe” Association (Italy), whose members delivered lectures for the Summer School students.

The 88th graduation ceremony was held at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The graduates, dressed in robes, were congratulated on completing their studies and wished success by BSU Rector Tite Aroshidze, Chairman of the Adjara Autonomous Republic Government Sulkhan Tamazashvili, Chairman of the Adjara Autonomous Republic Supreme Council David Gabaidze, Acting Mayor of Batumi Giorgi Murvanidze, Minister of Education and Sports of Adjara Autonomous Republic Maia Khajishvili, as well as professors, students, representatives of the government and the Supreme Council.

From July 7 to 11, a delegation from Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University (BSU) visited the University of Angers (France) as part of the Erasmus+ International Staff Mobility Program. The delegation included: Professor Merab Khalvashi, Vice-Rector of BSU, Associate Professor Irakli Kordzaia, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, Professor Marine Giorgadze, Head of the Department of Strategic Development and International Relations.

On June 23-27, at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, the George Washington University Deputy Rector for Research, Sylvia Ezekilova, conducted seminars for BSU academic and administrative staff. The seminars covered such important issues as: forming the structure of the university`s research administration; determining scientific priorities; drawing up a grant application, budgeting, logistics, determining funding sources, financial management and administration; expanding scientific cooperation; promoting the successful activities of the Scientific Administration Office.

A Memorandum of Cooperation has been signed between Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Georgia. The document was signed by BSU Rector Tite Aroshidze and the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Georgia Camille Furley. The agreement aims to raise awareness about the importance of forced displacement, refugee protection and refugee relations.
