On 15 May 2022, a training session entitled “How to Change a Violent Environment in Schools” was held at the Children’s Rights Centre of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The training was delivered by Associate Professor Nato Sherozia and Assistant Professor Dali Doborjginidze.

The session was attended by 30 pupils representing seven schools from the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, including four public and three private schools.

During the training, participants discussed various forms of violence against children and explored strategies for creating safer and more supportive school environments. The discussion addressed several important topics, including:

• safe school policies in Georgia;
• violence among adolescents, its underlying causes, and possible prevention strategies;
• bullying in schools;
• psychological violence within educational settings;
• emotional safety and well-being;
• prevention of violence in schools.

The training provided students with an opportunity to reflect on challenges related to violence in educational environments, exchange experiences, and discuss practical approaches for promoting a respectful, inclusive, and child-centred school culture.
