In 2022, within the framework of a UNICEF-funded grant project implemented at the Child Rights Centre of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, a research study entitled “Assessment of Young People’s Access to Quality Mental Health Services” was conducted. The aim of the research was to examine the mental health conditions and needs of young people aged 18–24 in order to identify the challenges they face and determine appropriate support mechanisms.

The findings of the study are expected to contribute to increasing public awareness and improving the development of mental health services, enabling young people to lead healthier and more productive lives both within their families and communities. The research was carried out at nine higher education institutions across Georgia.

At Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, 800 respondents/students from bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes were initially selected to participate in the study. Batumi State University students also actively contributed to the data collection, transcription preparation, and data processing stages of the research.

Overall, approximately 827 students from various bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes participated in the survey, providing valuable insights into young people’s mental health needs and access to relevant support services.
