Mariam Nodia, a graduate of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Faculty of Natural Sciences and Health Care, became the world champion in arm wrestling for the second time. The athlete competed in the under-23 women`s category at the current World Championship in Kazakhstan and won first place by defeating her Kazakh opponent. Mariam Nadia won the title of world champion for the first time in 2019, in the world championship held in Romania. The arm wrestler also successfully competed in the 2023 European Championships, women`s under-23 50 kg. Mariam won gold medals in weight category and right and left arm. Shota Rustaveli State University of Batumi congratulates Mariam Nodia on her well-deserved victory and wishes her success.

Gocha Shainidze, a student of the Faculty of Economics and Business of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, became the GFC World Champion. The athlete defeated the Turkish athlete Alfaren Karabulut (9 wins and 2 losses) in 3 minutes and 48 seconds at GFC23 and won the world champion belt. Gocha Shainidze fought his fifth fight in the organization in one year and won all five convincingly. He is also the champion of Georgia in mixed fights and the winner of the Black Sea Cup in kickboxing. Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University congratulates Gocha Shainidze on his victory and wishes him success.

19 students of Shota Rustveli State University of Batumi will go to study in leading European universities within the exchange program. Students of different faculties will be educated in the universities of Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Poland and Croatia during one semester. BSU Deputy Rectors Tamar Siradze and Anzor Beridze, Head of Administration Merab Diasamidze and Head of Quality Assurance Service Vladimir Ghlonti met the students, congratulated them on their victory, handed over certificates and wished them success.

Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University hosts the Batumi Summer University on international security and global nuclear non-proliferation issues for the eighth time. The topics of the intensive three-day training course on global security, foreign policy and nuclear non-proliferation will be led by Georgian, Swedish, Dutch, Taiwanese, Ukrainian and English scholars and experts. The Summer University aims to increase the competence of professors and experts of the respective faculties of the universities in the issue of nuclear security and non-proliferation. The training course is conducted within the framework of the international project "Strengthening of Teaching and Research Capabilities in the field of International Security and Nuclear Non-proliferation in Georgia".

The Academic Council of Shota Rustaveli State University of Batumi awarded the title of honorary doctor to Stockholm University professor Thomas Jonter. Professor Thomas Jonter made a significant contribution to the development and internationalization of BSU. Professor’s contribution to the re-accreditation of BSU International Relations undergraduate educational programme and the development of International and Public Policy master`s programme is special. He is one of the authors of the "Batumi Summer University" project, which is hosted by BSU for the eighth time and deals with current issues of global security.
