Europe Day was organized by the Department of Jean Monnet, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The event was attended by students of various specialties of the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences. Professor Malkhaz Nakashidze, Head of the Jean Monnet Department, spoke to the participants about European values and Georgia`s becoming a member of the European Union. To mark Europe Day, a documentary film was shown and discussions around it took place.
On May 3-5, a study visit was held at the Technology Campus of the Catholic University of Leuven in Ghent, Belgium, within the framework of the Erasmus +project “Boosting the Role of HEIs in the Industrial Transformation towards the Industry Paradigm 4.0 in Georgia and Ukraine.” The project was attended by the project manager and researcher from Batumi University, Dean of the Faculty of Exact Sciences and Education, Professor Lela Turmanidze, Head of Quality Assurance Service, Professor Vladimer Glonti and researcher, Associate Professor Nana Mazmishvili.
On April 20-22, in the framework of Erasmus + project SQUARE "Strengthening the Quality and Urgency of the 3rd Mission in Georgian Universities", Tamar Siradze, Deputy Rector of BSU and Nino Dolidze, Head of Public Relations Service, paid a study tour in Paris, at the invitation of one of the project partners, the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts (CNAM). CNAM is one of the first institutions in France to spread knowledge outside the traditional audience of universities.
Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University hosted citizens from Ukraine and their children wishing to study Georgian language. With the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, Zurab Zhvania School of Public Administration, in cooperation with Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, offers a specially tailored curriculum for citizens of Ukraine who wish to study Georgian.
A public lecture and discussion on "Basic Values of the European Union and the Accession Procedure" was held at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University. The event was opened by the Rector of Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, Professor Merab Khalvashi. The meeting was organized by the Jean Monnet Department of BSU in collaboration with the English Language Learning Center Eti Holding for public school students. The event was attended by about 40 public school students and teachers. Professor Malkhaz Nakashidze, Head of the Jean Monnet Department, spoke about the core values of the European Union, as well as the procedure for joining the European Union.
